Played an impromptu set on ROTA Gallery Radio Hour the other night, and I happened to do a couple of tunes with Sam Egan. Here’s one of them.
By the way, the last episode of this season will be airing 10:00 pm this Sunday night, and will feature Straight, No Chaser and As An Artform, along with some other surprise live musical guests!

I almost forgot that I make music…
Haven’t made a music related post in quite some time…
I have vague plans for a tour this summer with the lovely and talented Alison Lutz, and the route is totally up in the air. Maybe you know of a cool DIY spot we should visit?
Beyond that, I just demoed a new solo EP that combines my love of singer songwriter crap with my love of black metal crap. My attempts at making more accessible pop music keep getting thwarted by inability to not make inaccessible recordings.
A set of very much not-black metal influenced tunes are going to be recorded this Sunday evening with Shannon Stott and Kimberly LeClaire, and as soon as that’s done I have plans to track for another four song EP of folk tunes that will come with a song book/history lesson.
I’ve been quiet on the music front for many months now, but expect to hear some noise this summer.

Folk music with a twist at the Koffee Kat

This Saturday, four acoustic acts will perform a punk-infused spin on folk and bluegrass music at the Koffee Kat.
Local acts Marco Polio and Agent 922 will share the evening with Todi Stronghands from Halifax, Nova Scotia and Byron from Guelph, Ontario, all starting at 7 p.m.
The only consistent member of Marco Polio is vocalist and guitarist Matt Hall, who also serves as the vice president, events coordinator and public relations coordinator for ROTA Gallery in Plattsburgh.
Marco Polio starts with Hall’s songwriting, and from there a rotating cast of collaborators join him both on recordings and on stage.
The music Hall creates has a message that reflects the decisions he makes in life. “All my songs are about industrial civilization and technology and their effects on nature and the individual,” Hall said.

Okay, I’m posting this a couple of hours early, but I’m impatient. Plus I have some reading to get done! So without further adieu, here’s Folk-O-Rama: Vol. 2! It’s awesome and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Featuring tracks from 19 awesome folk punk artists! There’s really something for everyone on here. I would love it (and I’m sure all these bands would, too) if you all would download this, reblog it, share it with your friends and all of that good stuff!
Thanks to everyone for your continued support. You all made this possible. Also big thanks to my friend Wes Harbison for contributing the awesome cover artwork.

Sam Egan played bass on this track while I drummed and yelled… it didn’t make the album because it had too much of Limp Bizkit feel, but I still have a certain affection for it. Recorded live in the historic 56 Elm basement!
